About Turpentine Woodworks

Turpentine Woodworks is owned and operated by Justin Rectenwald, with the faithful support of his family. What began as a quiet pursuit during his college years—working wood by hand, one piece at a time—has evolved into a refined craft rooted in patience, precision, and purpose.

Each piece is designed and hand-crafted by Justin in Thomasville, Georgia, where a deep respect for material, place, and tradition guides every decision. As a Georgia native with woodworking in his blood and a lifelong passion for forestry, wildlife, and the longleaf pine forests of the South, this work is more than a trade—it is a continuation of heritage.

The name Turpentine carries historical weight. Drawn from the resin of longleaf pines, turpentine once fueled the naval stores industry that helped build America’s earliest ships and infrastructure. It was a raw material refined through care and craftsmanship, valued for its strength and purpose. That same philosophy defines Turpentine Woodworks today.

Every board, tray, and custom piece is thoughtfully crafted to honor the natural character of the wood—its grain, its imperfections, its story. These are not mass-produced goods, but enduring pieces meant to be used, displayed, and passed down. Objects that belong in homes where craftsmanship is noticed and quality is expected.

Thank you for choosing to invest in handmade work, Southern heritage, and a brand built with intention. We are honored to craft something worthy of your home.
